True love for the home

IT'S always revealing to see what the best-known names in Port Elizabeth property circles choose to call home and even more so when the stylish gent in question – Jaco Rademeyer – has admitted to a penchant for "good decor and tailored suits".

The principal of Jaco Rademeyer Estates recently moved from his plush townhouse in Walmer Heights to the equally up-market The Grange in Walmer, where his favourite room is the lounge and dining room.

The open-plan space is filled with objects and artworks that highlight the tastes of this award-winning young law graduate who – only in his early 30s – was one of the select group included in the inaugural Nelson Mandela Bay Business Chamber's Top 40 Under 40 in 2011.

Family and friends know that the dining room table will be well used as the entrepreneur, although single, is a keen home entertainer who loves to cook.

His "house mate" is bulldog Louis, who is already very much at home in Jaco's favourite room.

My style in five words: Eclectic with a modern quirky edge.

On my wish list: To invest in more quality art pieces ... Recently bought a Pierre Cronje piece, a Wehrner Lemmer and three Theo Vorster pieces.

Best colour scheme: Earthy base tones like grey, black and brown, but always with a touch of colour – usually red.

Pet decor peeve: Anything commercial or imitation.

My decor weakness:  Quality designer pewter and silver-ware such as Alessi, Carrol Boyes, Legnoart and Laguiole – just can't resist it.

Favourite book or movie character: Superman, because of his "powers" and the way "he" solves problems.
