Backstage team of 12 artists pulled it all off

IT TAKES a talented team to make the divine dresses on the ramp shine – not only do you need professional models and stunning gowns, you also need a dedicated hair and make-up team to frame the portrait.

This year at The Herald Boardwalk Bridal Fair, Images 1 had a team of 12 hairdressers working over four days to groom the contingent of 30 models both at the salon in Newton Park and backstage each day.

"Without Images 1 we would not be able to get the overall look and quality desired and few salons in Port Elizabeth would be able to deliver such a feat – taking staff away for that period of time for make-up, too," said show choreographer Barbara Robertson. Behind the scenes at the bridal fair is no place for sissies: "Oh, and there were 70 people backstage ..." noted Robertson, who presented five shows during the fair at the Boardwalk.

The annual feast of wedding and special event fashion, now in its 23rd year, is always a crowd puller with the big prize of a wedding drawn after the fair's final show.
