Pansa hosts stage auditions

AN EXCITING initiative by the Eastern Cape branch of the Performing Arts Network of South Africa (Pansa) invites aspiring actors and actresses aged 15 to 25 to audition for five new plays that have been written and directed by youths from around the city.

Auditions will take place at the Stageworld Theatre School in Chapel Street, Central, tomorrow and Sunday.

The auditions are the final phase of the workshop stage of the Youth Theatre Project, a Pansa EC initiative, before rehearsals for the show run begin.

All young theatre hopefuls are invited to audition, and no previous drama training or stage experience is required.

The actors selected this weekend will join production teams allocated to the respective plays, under the guidance of mentors with extensive theatre experience.

The Youth Theatre Project has been taking participants through different aspects of theatre, including scriptwriting, directing, production management, set and costume design, and sound design, among others.

Each aspect was covered by means of weekend workshops over the past few months.

To book an audition slot, or for further information, contact project coordinator Rose Cowpar, who will also supply audition packs.
