THIS weather is making it difficult for Skinnerbek to do what she loves best – bring you the juiciest gossip in town.

These days everyone seems to prefer staying warm at home.

Not me! On Saturday I waltzed my sexy behind to club Billionaires in KwaDwesi, where the Vinyl Meltdown, with DJs from East London, was going down.

DJ Scorpion took us down memory lane with old-school favourites while Justice, also from EL, made sure it was impossible for anyone to stay off the dance floor.

In the midst of all the drama the Port Elizabeth Opera House faced this week – I am sure you read The Herald on Wednesday about the death threats builders received – the concert seasons festival was launched.

It was attended by a handful of people who were entertained by talented jazz artist Asanda Mqiki. I have said this before and I shall say it again, she has such a good voice but I am not sure about her crazy hairdos. However she had the audience eating out of the palm of her hand.

KQfm’s station manager Xolani Yisaka for a change was not wearing his red blazer. Pity I can’t say the same for Purari Gotyana, who was fashionably late.

I’m glad to sayt the social calendar is picking up after a bit of a slump.

I strutted the red carpet a la Naomi to celebrate the first birthday of the Poppe Shop in Walmer.

The invite said black tie but sadly yours truly, who was obviously styling it, found out that no one was really dressed up except for our host, Candice, and Genna Wakefield who cut a beautiful figure in a bling dress.

The day at the races was a stylish affair with the who’s who properly represented.

The frocks and hats and the gents’ suits were fab.

The day’s highlight was definitely the fashion show by NMMU.

The judges of the fashion challenge put their best foot forward with Lauren Mungur sporting a black cat suit with a beautiful grey fascinator on the arm of boyfriend Neil Barker who was dashing in a midnight blue velvet suit.

The drama factor was provided by Liz Prins who could not contain her enthusiasm about a disagreement with Lauren.

And she chose to do it publicly at the races! Wow, talk about bad taste! The feast that was laid out for us was scrumptious and delicious
