A NEW one-man show, written and performed by Will Jensen, will premiere in Port Elizabeth tomorrow night.
Jensen, who started playing the piano when he was four, was inspired to write the show when a colleague asked him to entertain them at a function.
Before he knew it, the informal performance had grown into a full on show, which includes a bit of everything – stories, beautiful music, a joke or two and even some informal audience participation.
The main theme of the show, called 3-in-1, is centred around the idea that we all live three lives concurrently and it may be described as a journey of introspection, says Jensen.
All of this is done to the beat of music from a wide variety of genres. Expect anything from classical, jazz and swing to pop and Afrikaans ballads, mostly composed by Jensen himself. The show is presented mostly in Afrikaans, but it is done in such a simple manner that English speaking folk would feel completely at home, says Jensen.
Jensen would like to see 3-in-1 used as a fundraising opportunity for various groups around the Friendly City.
The production will be staged in the Thorpe Hall at Victoria Park High School tomorrow night, starting at 8pm. It forms part of the arts festival that Victoria Park High School hosts every second year.
The festival runs from today and offers an array of events, stalls and performances. Audience members provide their own refreshments.
Tickets at R50 will be available at the door but bookings may be done in advance with Sharon Williamson on 084-652-8638.
