ONE of soapie land’s most famous actresses will be in Port Elizabeth this weekend for the MTR Smit Children’s Home’s 15th annual open day.
New Brighton-born Themsie Times – better known as the nosy domestic worker Maria in SABC 2 soapie 7de Laan – will be the home’s special guest.
The home’s Amore de Lange said yesterday the open day was a tradition that allowed the public to enjoy a day with the home’s children.
Saturday’s activities include a ’60s themed 5km fun run, a modelling contest, live performances and paintball.
“There will also be a big screen displaying the rugby for all the rugby fanatics for the whole day. We will also have a wide variety of stalls on the day,” she said.
Registration for the fun run will be between 5.30am and 6.30am on the day, but pre-entries can also be done at the home daily between 8am and 6pm. The race, which costs R50 to enter, starts at 7am.
The modelling contest starts at 2pm. Entry to the open day is R5. – Yoliswa Sobuwa
