Take a fresh spin in all-new Sandero
THE all-new Renault Sandero launched last week puts a fresh and innovative spin on the South African affordable car market.
The Sandero is fitted with the 66kW turbo petrol engine which is shared with the new Clio.
This newcomer is way ahead of its competitors and is fitted with the F1-inspired performance-plus engine which boasts excellent fuel economy (5.2l/100km combined cycle NEDC), unique-in-segment safety level and the inclusion of "big car" features and smart technology.
The new generation three-cylinder 900cc turbo power plant is highly efficient, thanks to its 100% aluminium block, its low inertia turbo, variable valve timing (VVT) and innovative solutions transferred from Formula 1.
Renault said the vehicle reaches a top speed of 175km/h and speedily accelerates, from 0 to 100km/h, in only 11.1 seconds.
The lively personality of the turbo 66kW engine exudes from its engaging sound as well as its best-in-class responsiveness in all conditions, thanks to its steady low-end torque which reaches a maximum of 135Nm from 2500rpm, 90% of which being available from 2000rpm.
The base version gives its occupants the confidence of driving the safest car of its class thanks to a standard safety package which comprises ABS+EBD coupled with Emergency Brake Assist (EBA), dual front airbags, Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) with anti-skid regulation (ASR) and Hill Start Assist (HSA).
The Expression variant comes standard with electric front windows, remote central locking, a Double Din radio MP-3 compatible CD player with USB connection and a Bluetooth connectivity enabling safe and convenient hands-free telephony plus music streaming from external devices.
The upper-version Dynamique distinguishes itself through its sophisticated design package (15-inch alloy wheels, front fog lights with chrome surrounds and body-coloured door handles), completed by electric rear windows and electrically adjustable side mirrors.
Furthermore, it offers standard features never seen in this segment, like front side airbags and cruise control plus speed limiter.
Sandero prices start at R133900 (including aircon) for the Expression model and the Dynamique flagship R141500.
