Saftas nominations shock for KwaDwesi producer

OF Good Report, written by South African director Jahmil XT Qubeka and produced by Mike Auret and KwaDwesi resident Luzuko Dilima, has been nominated for 12 South African Film and Television Awards.

The 87-minute film, shot in Somerset East in 2012, tells the tale of a small-town high school teacher with a thing for young girls.

The trouble for Parker Sithole (Mothusi Magano) begins when he accepts an invitation to a tavern drinking session.

Dilima, of New Brighton Pictures, said yesterday it was a big shock for the whole crew when they heard about all the nominations.

“The nominations themselves are a win for me, especially in the South African film industry. Especially being nominated with Long Walk to Freedom, which had a bigger budget.”

The nominations – all for a feature film – are: best feature film; best director; best writing team; best editor; best DOP/cinematographe; best production design; best sound designer; best make-up/hair; best actress; best actor; best supporting actress; best supporting actor. – Michael Kimberley, Thulani Gqirana
