Ticket prices slashed for Eminem concert

ORGANISERS of United States rapper Eminem's Rapture 2014 SA Tour gave slack ticket sales a boost yesterday, slashing tickets ordinarily costing R500 for next Wednesday's Cape Town show to just R99.

The announcement was made by Computicket on its social media account, quickly causing a frenzy.

By yesterday afternoon they had all been snapped up, even if the deal was to run until midday today.

The tickets, which were for seats located in nine blocks across the venue, were limited to 10 per customer.

When upset Johannesburg fans queried why the deal was only open to Capetonians, they were told on Twitter that "Unfortunately this is purely the promoter's decision".

The 13-time Grammy winner's first-ever South Africa tour was announced in November, and will also see him play at Johannesburg's Ellis Park on March 1.

The tour is in support of his latest album Marshall Mathers LP2 (released in November), which was executive-produced by Dr Dre and Rick Rubin. The album features the likes of Rihanna and Kendrick Lamar.

Of his eight albums, seven have gone to No 1 in this country.
