Mediterranean pizzazz

WONDERING where to enjoy dinner with friends this festive season? Two Olives in Richmond Hill is always a good choice.

The Mediterranean and tapas menu offers something for everyone, but with a new pizza and pasta menu on top of that, deciding what to eat is difficult. Having been to Two Olives on many occasions for tapas, we wanted to try something different.

We ordered an oh-so-delicious pizza topped with flame-grilled chicken, cranberry sauce, camembert and mozzarella (R89) with a Mediterranean salad (R59) that consists of roast vegetables and Danish feta served on salad greens, and we shared the lot.

The thin-based pizza was yummy and the Mediterranean salad was crisp and fresh and just what we needed on a blistering summer’s day.

For dessert we could not resist sharing the eatery’s selection of the day.

Served tapas style, it was a beautifully plated selection of cheesecake, chocolate brownie and vanilla ice cream served with chocolate sauce and two deep-fried phyllo-wrapped Lindt chocolate balls. Be warned though, you need to eat the chocolate ball in one bite as it can be a messy affair.

The service was excellent – exactly what I have come to expect from Two Olives. The restaurant recently opened downstairs due to its popularity but the view from upstairs does Port Elizabeth justice and can be enjoyed sipping an ice cold drink.

Other unique pizzas on the menu include salami and gorgonzola (R79) and slow-roasted lamb, spinach and mushroom (R89).The eatery’s linguine dishes range from R69 to R85 and there are not as many options as there are with the pizza.
