A DRIVE up the coast past Port Alfred will lead you to the Fish River Sun – 180km from PE – where a range of activities make it an ideal day trip for the entire family.
While the golfers are out on the Gary Player-designed greens, the rest of the family can use the heated pool at the hotel, or go down to the beach and use the facilities at Castaways.
Younger members aged between three and 12 will also be able to go to Kamp Kwena.
Port Elizabeth comedian Craig Mischief will be hosting fun afternoon activities such as mini braai master and sand building competitions from 2pm.
Beach lovers can either stroll or take a shuttle down to Castaways, which overlooks Old Woman’s River. Guests relaxing at Castaways can choose between a dip in the ocean or in the shallow lagoon.
Light meals and snacks are served from the Saloon Bar at Castaways, as well as the Kontiki restaurant and pool bar.
Canoes and deck chairs are available, and fishing equipment can be hired.
For the more energetic visitors, there are guided nature walks and night drives on Wednesday and Saturday evenings.
Reservations for both are essential, and can be made through the reception desk.
A champagne breakfast at R100 per person is served from 7am to 12.30pm.
And, for those who want to massage the cares of the past year away, there are beauty and spa treatments at the skin clinic.
