‘Sparkling’ carols tonight

THE festive season is a time for giving and children love to be the givers of joy too, just as much as they enjoy receiving.

Today the Boardwalk invites families who love to give, to light up the night sky with sparklers for charity during a Christmas carol celebration to be hosted on the Boardwalk Lake.

Lighting of the sparklers will take place at 7.55pm followed by the Boardwalk’s ever-popular dancing fountains at 8pm.

Join the Psalmist Choir and get into the Christmas cheer as they sing carols.

The event, hosted by Algoa FM’s Charlton Tobias, will take place from 6pm until 9pm with lucky draws taking place at 8.30pm.

The evening will end with live entertainment on the News Café stage.

Sparklers, including a lighter, can be purchased at R5 each at various Boardwalk traders or will be on sale at the lake from 4.30pm. Patrons purchasing sparklers will be entered into the lucky draws taking place, with plenty of surprises up for grabs.

All the funds raised will go towards the purchasing of new school uniforms for the children from the Chris Hani Shack Settlement. Earlier this year, tragedy struck the settlement when a fire burnt down part of the settlement leaving thousands homeless.

Children from the settlement will be transported to the event to enjoy the festivities on the evening and see how Port Elizabeth is putting a sparkle back into their lives while lighting up the stunning Port Elizabeth night sky.
