Mqiki to support Dludlu

NEW Brighton’s multi-talented singing sensation Asanda Mqiki will support the star attraction, jazz artist Jimmy Dludlu, at Nangoza Jebe Hall this Saturday.

Mqiki, in her early 20’s, has a powerful voice that demands her audience’s attention.

“I will play with a 10-piece band. My fans can expect 35 minutes of pure fun and will get down to my Afro-jazz sounds,” Mqiki said.

“I am truly excited about this performance as I have been mostly singing with other artists. This time I will be by myself.”

For now, she refuses to leave Port Elizabeth for the bright lights of Johannesburg.

“I enjoy working with local talent and have no reason at the moment to move to Johannesburg – perhaps later in my career, but not now.”

Mthatha-born performer Brian Themba, known for his role as Simba in the West End musical The Lion King, will also perform at Nangoza Jebe on Saturday.

They will also be joined by PE-born artist Nomfusi.

Doors to the show will open at 7.30pm on Saturday.

Tickets are selling at between R150 and R200. – Yoliswa Sobuwa
