THE gourmet girl of Richmond Hill, Carole Law – known as Mrs Claw in Facebook circles – was this week’s lunch date guest, and she talked to La Femme over breakfast at Buenos Restaurant in Stanley Street.
Law talked about her time spent growing up in Nelson Mandela Bay, attending Collegiate Girls’ High School, running her own hotel and her love for Stanley Street – which she calls “the strip”.
She also shared many humorous stories about her past and credited her father with giving her a chance to run the family hotel.
“He taught me the hotel business because we lived in a guesthouse for most of my formative years.
“He read to me all the time and although I wasn’t too interested in learning at school, I was interested in learning about how the business worked and he gave me my first crack at it,” Law said.
Of her love relationship with Stanley Street, Law said it all started when she left the hotel business, which she “ran for many years”, to take up other business ventures in the area in the 1980s.
Now, she enjoys the street’s restaurant life as part of a group of ladies who visit the restaurants on a regular basis.
I picked Buenos because I have breakfast there every day.
I’ll know I’ve made it when La Femme asks me out to lunch.
I love my job because I love making my Liquid Crystal original healing remedies because they really work and bring relief and healing to both humans and pets.
The person who has taught me the most is probably my father.
I have a soft spot for very handsome men.
I should have studied as I always considered studying a complete waste of time and it’s only now at the age of 70 that I am studying two subjects I am really interested in.
I’d love to party with Adam Lambert and his friends.
I’m listening to Pavarotti and Friends.
When I was 16, I wish I knew everything I know now.
My music weakness at the moment is Miley Cyrus and I also love Queen.
Nothing makes me happier than being out and about socialising on the strip – Stanley Street.
My favourite item of clothing is my uniform which I wear every day.
I absolutely dislike people who abuse animals.
I am saving to buy I don’t save, ’cause I can’t.
I share my life with my yorkie Maxi, a little rescue called Suzi and two wonderful cats, Bailey and Peaches.
I can’t go a day without breakfast.
