IT’S time to get into the spirit of Christmas with music suited to the festive season. The Feather Market Organ Society will be presenting its annual Christmas concert at the Feather Market Centre tomorrow at 1pm.
This is the opportunity once again for all local music lovers and holiday visitors to enjoy a varied selection of beautiful Christmas music in the Feather Market Centre.
It will be staged with the impressive grand organ and performed by four organists, six solo singers and accompanying trumpet, flute and bagpipes plus two guitars and choir.
The grand organ will be played by organists Albert Troskie, Sulani Heunis, Tarryn Mintoor and Johan van Eck. The vocal duet Elsje Nelson and Alfred Felkers will sing two great favourites: The Prayer and Angel’s Carol.
The audience will furthermore be treated to the beautiful sound of the concertina in the performance of some carols by Prof Piet de Villiers and also some happy New Year music.
De Villiers will be assisted by Neels van Rooyen and Rudolph Britz (guitars), and Troskie (organ).
Other items on the programme will include an arrangement of eight carols which will be performed by Shawn Lyon (trumpet), Lilian Zeelie (flute), Steven van der Merwe (bagpipes) and Troskie (organ).
By special request, the Eastern Cape Children’s Choir, conducted by Lionel van Zyl, will sing three lovely carols and will end the concert on a high and loud note with the well-loved Easter Hymn from Mascagni’s Cavalleria Rusticana, with Liske Potgieter as soloist.
Once again a significant part of the proceeds will go to charity. Admission is R40 with R30 for pensioners and R10 for children. Tickets will be available at the door. Inquiries: Prof Albert Troskie (041) 503-7854 or 082-726-9595.
