THE idyllic setting of the Bay’s Brighton Drive Boutique No 5 was the scene for the stork party of Roland and Shahnaz Williams’s baby girl. The weather agreed with the festivities and with the theme of love, happiness and respect.
The mom-to-be looked radiant in a figure-hugging black frock and impeccable make up – apparently done by her younger sister.
I must commend the gal – she does know her work, as I have never seen Shahnaz with an eyelash out of place.
Boutique No 5 laid out quite a spread and the sweet treats were to die for. Bye-bye summer diet!
Shahnaz’s best friend Theo Klaas was in attendance and he made a moving speech. Thank goodness the opening of prezzies did not last long before it was time for the men to join the party.
Roland, our city’s chief spin doctor, was wrapped up in a roll of plastic with the words: ‘It’s a girl’ complete with diaper. He serenaded his wife with an adapted version of the Stevie Wonder classic Isn’t She Lovely.
PE was on fire the past weekend with Zonke Dikana having two shows at the Boardwalk, which were both sold out.
However, I am a bit disappointed with the organisers – Skinnerbek had to run around like a headless chicken to get tickets. Umhlobo Wenene FM presenter Putco Mafani – wearing a pink T-shirt, jeans and All Stars – had everyone in stitches with his hilarious jokes.
Local artist Nosisi rocked the audience and had everyone dancing as she sang the late Brenda Fassie’s song Leave Me Alone.
Modern Tribe (previously known as New Afro Teens) gave one of their best performances and also belted out two of Fassie’s songs. Wow. I must say those kids are going places – they just need a choreographer now.
Councillor Babalwa Lobishe rocked in a black lace dress. Before Zonke’s appearance, one of the organisers, Danny Mongo, gave a long speech – even introducing his secretary. Dahling, you nearly had me catching some zees.
Cubana was next for some house sounds and to shake off a few calories. DJ Fistaz Mixwell was headline of the night and arrived in style in the company of some beautiful ladies.
Also spotted was MetroFM’s Tbo Touch, who clearly could not keep his hands off SABC current affairs producer Busisiwe Mahambehlala.
Zolani Moyo never disappoints in the fashion department but I really liked his Polo shoes.
Ciao for now.
