IT was a real case of give and take when multi-award winning musician Zonke Dikana and her Nelson Mandela Bay fans blew each other away, with a stunning performance from the former and a loud display of love from the latter.

Dikana and her fans were yesterday still reeling from her performances at the weekend, taking to social networks to rave about the star’s two-night gig at the Boardwalk International Convention Centre.

Leaving for Johannesburg yesterday morning, Dikana tweeted: “PE done and dusted, awesome 2 shows we had!! Tnk u so much 🙂 . We r now about to take off, back to Joziville we go.”

This was later followed on arrival by: “So much love we received from PE!!!! I thank you profusely, mzi kaPhalo”

The much-loved musician, originally from Kwazakhele, treated fans on Saturday night to songs from her latest hit album Ina Ethe – meaning give and take – and some of her previous works.

One of the older hits she performed was Ekhaya, in which the now Johannesburg- based musician sings about how great it is to come home to her family.

Introducing the song, Dikana said it truly was “great to be at home”.

“I’ve performed all over the place, but it is so awesome performing at home, especially to such an audience. The love I got from PE was … sjoe!”

Dikana looked svelte in an above-the- knee black glittery skirt and white vest that showed off her toned upper body as she sang and danced her way through her hits. These included Feelings, Jik’ Izinto and her dedication to her late musician father and hero Viva the Legend, to which the capacity-filled venue went wild.

Fans abandoned their chairs and danced along to the opening acts – all from within the city – Modern Tribe, Nosisi and Lelethu “Poetic Soul” Mahambehlala.

Dikana was quite impressed by Modern Tribe, formerly known as the Afro Teens.

Responding to a tweet by the band yesterday about what an “amazing experience” it was opening for her, she posted: “U guys are going places.”

The concert was initially due to take place only on Saturday night, but after tickets sold out within two weeks and with fans still wanting more, a second show was organised for Friday night.
