Mermaid holds key to more than cave

BLUEWATER Bay has long been the hunting ground of sun worshippers, fishermen and dog-walkers. And now a new type of hunt is on, one which involves capturing a mythical mermaid standing guard over a series of caves, where the water is refreshed from a host of streams cascading over carefully carved rocks.

Should anyone be lucky enough to track down the mermaid, she comes with a fantastic bonus – a truly stunning family home a mere stone’s thrown from the beach.

The property in question is at 64 Bluewater Drive and the poolside mermaid is just one of the attractive features that make this a home with a complete difference.

The first thing that strikes you is that this is one of the most immaculately kept properties you could ever wish to find, from the garden with its pool and jacuzzi, plus separate play area for the kiddies, to the spacious interior with enough accommodation for mom, dad, the kids and more besides.

On the lower level, access is gained from a covered patio with built-in braai which leads directly onto the lounge. To the left of the lounge is a decidedly up-market “gentleman’s bar” and to the right there’s an open-plan kitchen with a six-ring gas hob and oven and a granite- topped centre island.

There’s also a discreet scullery/laundry area and all of the kitchen appliances come with the house.

For those fresh off the beach sandy days, there’s a full downstairs bathroom with wet-room style shower and corner bath while the adjacent guest suite, which opens onto the pool area, has its own en-suite bathroom.

Access to the upper level is gained by a grand, well-lit staircase which leads to a cosy lounge and patio, again with a built-in braai, and an intimate TV room – all with views of the Indian Ocean. One of the bedrooms has the most amazing open view of the sea, perfect for whale or dolphin watching.

The two children’s bedrooms share a bathroom, again with a wet-room type shower, while the expansive master bedroom has a stunning wood-fitted, walk-in dressing room plus an en-suite bathroom. There’s also a CCTV monitor in the master suite which scans the property for possible intruders.

Completing the upstairs accommodation is a linen room, while downstairs there are a pristine garage with parking for four cars, a store room and a kiddies’ indoor playroom.

Coming, as it does, with all the curtains, mirrors and many of the fittings – and should the new owner desire it can be purchased with all the furniture – this gem of a Tuscan house, in immaculate, easy-to-maintain gardens, is one of those rare properties that you could simply move into. Just about tomorrow, should the desire take you.
