MULTI-award-winning jazz artist Swazi Dlamini’s latest album, Soul of Me, shows that she has “concluded a full circle in my journey in the music industry”.
The album comes just after she celebrated the 10th anniversary of the release of her debut album, My First Love.
“[This album] is very light and has the element of love songs. It takes people back to my very first album,” she said.
“With this one I celebrate other people’s skills. It is nice to see how people see me through music. I had to put the married mother of two aside and be a girl and flirt with the songs.”
Dlamini worked with Unathi Msengana, who wrote So Glad, with Kabomo who wrote Eagle, and philanthropist Lupi Ngcayisa, who has helped with lyrics.
She has also paid tribute to the late Brenda Fassie with the track, Life is going on.
Dlamini said she planned to launch her album in Port Elizabeth. “I just want a small intimate venue. The last time I was here was in 2000 and my show went very well,” she said.
