THE only junior regional choir in the country, the Eastern Cape junior Children’s Choir, under leadership of Hanlie Young, will be holding auditions next Friday at Charlo Primary School in Port Elizabeth.
This is an opportunity for talented singers who will be in Grade 1, 2, 3 or 4 next year, to join the choir.
The choir rehearses once a week, on Wednesdays, from 4pm to 5.30pm, at Cillié High School.
The children love to perform in the community, at retirement centres and churches for instance, and are often invited to perform at concerts and special events.
The choir presents the annual Bamba Festival, during which junior school choirs are invited to take part and join in the fun.
Bamba is the official choir teddy bear and prospective choir members are invited to bring their own teddies along to meet Bamba.
Prospective choir members may sing any song they like at the audition.
No sheet music or special equipment is required.
Apart from several remaining performances towards the end of the year, the choir is planning to record a DVD with singer Anthonie Bougas.
It should be ready in time for Christmas.
Children planning to audition must contact Blanché at 082-657-1701 as soon as possible in order to book their individual audition times.
They are also welcome to send an e-mail to email@example.com.
