Showing a leg as the summer rolls round

WOW! Summer is here and that means peeps everywhere are working on making sure their bods are hot for the season – if at all possible. Where’s that gym membership card? And is it still valid?

Last Friday, I made my way to Studio Lounge in Zwide where Motherwell born DJ Lopi Native launched his album.

Studio Lounge is on another trip – they are bringing back the clubbing thing big time.

It is under the guidance of new owners Sifiso Zungu – who used to be the manager at the now closed Liquid lounge – and Thulani Qeqe. They are bringing the Cubana vibe to Ekasi.

Ladies showed off their legs and guys did not disappoint either as they came in expensive cars and bought the most expensive whiskey.

Businessman Aya Peter rocked in a brown casual suit and the place was packed with young ladies wearing their minis.

A word of advice: gym is there for a reason – to get rid of all that unwanted cellulite!

The music was great and people had fun on the dance floor. Heavy K, who is now making it big in Jozi after the release of his house track, Wena, was the surprise guest for the night. Skinnerbek must say that kid is something else on the decks – he made us dance like there is no tomorrow.

After that Lopi took over.

I must say I am not a fan of deep house but I saw myself moving along to the beat.

On Saturday, it was off to KwaNgqoko in New Brighton for a tribute to one of the MVP DJs, Xolile Xylophone, who died on Thursday last week. The local DJs came in numbers to support the effort and the peeps shared their special memories of Xylophone.

On Tuesday, I spotted kwaito artist Professor who was here in PE to shoot a music video with Heavy K – part of it at Kings Beach.

Professor, who spent most of his time on his cellphone, was too serious for words!

Honey, it’s cool to relax and mingle with the peeps. Of course, that didn’t stop your Skinnerbek – she managed to take a pic with the Ama finger-prints artist!
