Twerked at The Boardwalk and lunched with the royals

PHEW! A tango evening and a royal lunch. How do I say it better than this is my fabulous life.

The Boardwalk hosted another shindig to celebrate its 13th birthday tango style. Well, I can safely say rhythm is built into my bones, and memories of our old library hall practice ground came flashing back. I dusted off my little black number for a night out with a gal pal, and hoped for the best.

My hosts Caley Phillips and Brett Hoppe were fabulously dressed but the best style award should go to the pint-sized Bongi Siwsa. This woman knows how to dress and she supports local talent. She wore a red A-line flamenco skirt paired with a beautifully embroidered black bodice. She was the epitome of elegance and her husband Lizo is a real gentleman.

Speaking of gentlemen, Siyabulela Mhlakula from Transnet you really need to learn manners. When you are introduced to someone at least act interested and stop playing with your mobile phone. Seriously – are you 12?

Mr PE finalist Neil Bakker was in high spirits and he is such eye candy – pity he came with a date! The white T looked good on him but I’m not sure about his date’s black number. A little too formal, neh?

Later at the Bling Bling comedy show, Tumi Morake did her twerking skills as usual but I was a bit disappointed she repeated the same set she performed when she was here for Mass Hysteria last month.

Marc Lottering tried twerking but dahling, with a flat posterior like that you need a lot of practice!

By royal invite no less, I donned my best outfit to attend the royal lunch with HRH Prince Edward and Countess of Wessex Sophie Rhys-Jones at Kingswood College in Grahamstown to mark the 30th anniversary of the president’s awards.

Sophie looked stunning in a red dress with zip detail which has been so big on the ramps lately. The royal couple are so friendly and they took time to speak to all the guests. The Kingswood band was right on form and the lunch was divine with the added touch of inspirational speeches from the students.
