Chilly nights and hot events

THE Tabu Grill and Bar lounge at Radisson Blu hotel was the spot to be last weekend. Besides partying in style, the view of those blue pools always makes Skinnerbek think she's somewhere in Mauritius.

The consistently sexy Bongile Matewu, who was a Mr PE 2011 finalist, looked hot in a red jacket and blue denim jeans with black Italian shoes.

There was also ex-model Skhumbuzo Gurash Myoli who is becoming a socialite of note. I liked his green double-breasted jacket with brown crocodile skin shoes.

The ladies were also on point – Pell Tiba's royal blue shirt, black formal pants and black shoes made quite an impression. And DJ Mthi kept people warm with his deep house music.

Songstress Sibongile Khumalo's concert at Nangoza Jebe Hall on Saturday was also a warm affair despite the cold weather with Bella Voce Chorale hosting. The group looked angelic in their gold and white outfits. Take Note jazz band also kept us entertained but I felt that lead singer Asanda Mqiki could have worn something more comfortable.

Those powder-blue pants were way too small! But dahling, you do have a wonderful voice and it was great seeing you share a stage with Mamu Sibongile who never puts a note wrong and fully deserved a standing ovation.

Fashionistas also attended the annual benefit fashion show by Jason Kieck for Reach for a Dream aptly named "dare to dream".

Morne van der Schyff provided fashion for the gents. The beautifully decorated Feather Market Centre provided a perfect backdrop for an evening of a tastebud- tantalising five-course meal and beautiful couture fashion to quench any fashion appetite.

A bittersweet video reminded us of the reason for the benefit when a little boy invited us to take a walk into the children's oncology ward, and I did shed a few tears. Skinnerbek is not one to turn on the waterworks so thank you for the humbling experience.

AlgoaFM's Carol-Ann Kelleher with her other half Gary was there – damn, the woman has a great bod which was swathed in a floor-length grey silk and lace dress. She carried the outfit beautifully and her arm-candy was divine in a tux.

Talking about breakfast show hosts, Kingfisher FM's Jason Gabriel was in attendance, entwined with a woman who he says is just a friend, but brother, she makes it look a lot more serious.

Nazreen Holland was the cabaret star for the evening, but honey you cannot wear the same dress to the same city every time you visit. I thought that was just Basic Fashion 101.

Gold paralympic medalist Kevin Paul arrived on the arm of girlfriend Amy. The brother is fine and he has refined his style of skinny cut pants – he always looks so dapper in a tux. Thank you for making the country and the city proud, Kev.

The fashion show blew me away with Kieck's spring cocktail floral frocks in sexy cuts, while Van der Schyff showed off stunning two-piece suits in amazing fresh colours of olive greens and stripes. For what you boys did for charity, cheers to you with my new aluminum Marc Jacobs Coke bottle.

The Boardwalk recently had a change in management and the new chief is the bike-riding teddy bear Brett Hoppe. We were invited to his introduction at the Boardwalk Hotel pool bar and although it was a bit chillos, our hosts kept us properly lubricated with decadent cocktails.

I ran into Peter Myburg, the reigning Mr PE. Ladies, he is a singleton. And on that sweet note, keep smiling.
