AFRO-rock singer Cama Gwini has swapped performing for all things baby as she prepares to welcome her first child into the world.
The 31-year-old singer, who is seven months pregnant, does not know if she is expecting a girl or a boy.
“All I want is a healthy baby, and the idea of being a mother is very exciting. I have always loved children. When I was still a kid myself, I used to babysit kids from my neighbourhood and I must say I was very good with them,” Cama Gwini – real name Siphokazi Buti – said.
The Emandulo singer said she had spent her first trimester eating a bit more than usual. “I did not have a specific thing [craving], I was just eating everything,” she said,
“I am so lucky because my stomach only started showing after six months.
“At four months I was still doing my shoots and did not have any problems. But now my stomach is a bit heavy – I guess the baby is growing big inside.
“I have also stopped going to gym but I do a lot of walking and shopping for the new one. I can’t wait to welcome [the baby].”
Cama Gwini said pregnancy had changed her “a lot”.
“I am now more understanding and I have already started behaving like a mother. I am more caring and I love going for sonars and bonding with my baby,” she said.
And while the pitter-patter of little feet may not be far off now, wedding bells will not be ringing for Cama Gwini just yet, with the singer refusing to even name her baby’s father or divulge any other information about him.
