Smokie returns to PE

Herald Reporter

VETERAN British rock band Smokie is headed to South Africa as part of the Take a Minute World Tour and perform at the Boardwalk in Port Elizabeth next month.

The band – whose hits include Living Next Door to Alice, Oh Carol, Needles and Pins and Have you Ever seen the Rain? – are performing five shows in South Africa and one in Windhoek, Namibia.

Described as rock ‘n roll survivors, the band is still enthusiastic, totally committed to and in love with music almost 40 years after its inception.

The band last visited Port Elizabeth in 2004, when they played at the NMMU Indoor Sports Centre.

As they return to South Africa, the band will be releasing a new double CD and bonus DVD box set – The South African Collection – which will be distributed by Next Music and will be available at the concerts.

Smokie will perform at the Boardwalk International Convention Centre at 3pm on September 29.

Tickets ranging from R120 to R595 are available from Computicket.
