Blooming marvellous

WHAT kind of home would a multi-award winning floral artist choose to live in? Would it be full of bright colours, a cosy nook or a cool modern pad?

Instead, a glimpse into the Bluewater Bay haven of the creative Fayette Sherwinski shows impeccable styling to give an effect of understated and tasteful luxury.

Sherwinski is staying in her family home, where she grew up before leaving South Africa for her studies and future career in Germany, but she has a separate apartment in the house.

“Apart from my work, I definitely have been influenced by my parents as they have an interiors business. They custom-make the most amazing furniture of excellent quality and my mom has an exquisite collection of antique furniture and accessories – it’s her passion!

“Our tastes are quite different, but my parents are still my choice of decorators, my dad giving technical advice and my mom being the perfect creative complement!”

My style in five words: Individual, classical.

On my wish list: Art nouveau vases.

Best colour: For home: I love neutral colours – creams, greys, browns. They combine well with trend colours which I like to change seasonally.

Pet décor peeve: Not clearing old flowers away immediately.

My indulgence: I love fresh flowers.

Favourite movie or book character: Vogue magazine editor Anna Wintour.
