Two peas in a pod, kicking ass

IT CERTAINLY is a sister act for former DF Malherbe pupils Erika Burns and Karin le Roux.

The identical twins, 38, are well-known fitness instructors in the Bay known for kicking ass at gyms around the city and having bodies to die for.

The sisters are the best of friends and do everything together: including having a boob job for their 21st birthday.

Erika said: “We did it together. We were very flat chested and wanted to have it done.”

Karin had her first child 14 months ago and Erika is four months pregnant with her first. Erika said: “Karin always does things first then I follow. When she went to study in Cape Town, I decided to go with her.”

The twins say there is a lot of pressure to keep the perfect body. Karin said: “We try to eat healthy. People can be hard on you in this field, especially if they see you at a Spur.”

So, it was no surprise when they both ordered a vegetable bake (R35) for lunch at The Hedges.

The twins talk to each other every day and it is obvious they have a lot of love and respect for each other, even though they are quite competitive.

Erika said: “We were in the same class at school and were competitive. Now, I am trying to pick up less weight then Karin did during her pregnancy.”

ERIKA:

My music weakness is classical music.

Nothing makes me happier than being at home with my family, having a quiet evening.

My favourite item of clothing is my cross-trainers.

I absolutely hate washing my hair because I know it is going to get sweaty the very next day.

I am saving to buy baby stuff for our little one arriving in October.

I can’t go a day without my Justine tissue oil lip balm.

In 10 years I see myself owning a small private Pilates studio on a beach somewhere.

KARIN:
