FOLLOWING their successful South African tour in 2011, Stars of the Ballet Moscow return to Port Elizabeth as part of their nationwide tour.
Balletomanes as well as lovers of classical music are promised a balletic feast with the programme prepared by former director of the Bolshoi Ballet, Yuri Vertrov.
This year’s programme celebrates the music of the great Russian composers whose musical genius inspired much of the classical ballet repertoire.
In the first act, the ballet Paganini, choreographed by Leonid Lavrovsky, to the passionate score of Sergei Rachmaninov, takes pride of place, followed by other delightful pieces, The Adagio from Symphony No 2 and All by Myself.
The second act of the programme highlights Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s Romeo and Juliet as well as scenes and extracts from Swan Lake, The Sleeping Beauty and The Nutcracker.
Stars of the Ballet Moscow perform at the Port Elizabeth Opera House on June 23 at 3pm.
Booking is at Computicket.
