WHO says brides have to be demure? Several designers at The Herald Bridal Fair said “I’m bringing sexy back” with their cut-away designs on their wedding dresses.
And as the congregation will see the back view of the bride and groom as they say their vows, why not opt for a dazzlingly different rear view?
- Leandra Fourie opted for a lace tattoo effect on her L Designs opening number: a gorgeous Gatsby-inspired dropped-waist design with romantic nuances.
- House of Brides’ Karen England topped dramatic waves of tulle, ruffles, beading and embellishment with one-shoulder strap detailing to give an ultra-glamorous back view.
- Gerhard Meiring of Gerhard Meiring Couture sent his model out in a hand-beaded design with asymmetrical lace back detail over a cheeky shorter-length wedding dress.
As the smooth Mr T sings: “I think it’s special what’s behind your back/ So turn around and I’ll pick up the slack”.
