Rugby man having a ball in business world

Yoliswa Sobuwa

THANDO Manana is always busy taking care of his driving school businesses or looking after his properties. La Femme had a date with the former Springbok rugby player who is now a rugby commentator at Umhlobo Wenene FM. Although Liquid Lounge, the nightclub he ran with Proteas cricket player Lonwabo Tsotsobe, closed earlier this year, he has several business interests around the metro.

However, Manana managed to squeeze in lunch at his favourite eatery Vovo Telo in Richmond Hill, where he enjoyed a well-done fillet sandwich with a glass of San Pellegrino Aranciata Rossa, a sparkling blood-orange flavoured water from Italy.

I have a soft spot for … Roosterkoek and ginger beer.

When I was 16, I wish I knew … other people’s cultures from around the world.

My music weakness is … adding already to my collection of over 100 music CDs.

Nothing makes me happier than … knowing that life is not a dress rehearsal. Learn from yesterday about tomorrow.

My favourite item of clothing is … any Adidas clothing, from sneakers to their winter hoods.

I absolutely hate … people who resist change because it is perhaps one of the defining characteristics of religion and politics.

I am saving to buy … material for my new house which is under construction.

I share my life with… my daughter (Thandolwethu) who just turned five.

I can’t go a day without … my i-Phone and office keys.

In 10 years I see myself… married with three kids and being a well-established businessman.
