‘Great Gatsby’ in full swing

WITH the Hollywood film version of The Great Gatsby opening on Friday, The Herald Boardwalk Bridal Fair will be putting the bridal fashion spotlight on the golden era of elegance in the show-stopping Great Gatsby style.

The bonus this year is an extra day – Friday – when you can get the first peek at the work of dazzling designers at 12 noon and 4pm fashion shows before the weekend bustles into action – and the early and late shows feature different outfits.

Top Port Elizabeth model agency boss Gail Brown, of Sophisticate Models, will have a dozen of her leading ladies showcasing retro-fabulous looks inspired by the Jazz Age, from the crème de la crème of Port Elizabeth designers. The models’ hair and make-up will be styled by Anny Britz and her Images 1 team to complement the sophisticated looks, and matched with era-appropriate headgear by Kary M Designs.

A select group of jewellery exhibitors – Cazabella, Jenni Gault International Jewellery Design, Trevor Logie Jewellers and Jewellery by Chrizelle will add further sparkle to the glitzy gowns.

This will all be set against a striking roaring 20s backdrop – especially designed by Angelic Wonders – in the colonial-style exhibition Hall of the grand, brand new Boardwalk Hotel and Convention Centre.

Stylish gents also get in on the act with menswear specialists Heinz in Style and Morné Originals exhibiting bespoke suiting for the groom at the fair.

And, afterwards, you can sip champers and indulge yourself at the posh high tea. Shows are at 12 noon and 4pm, on May 24, 25 and 26.
