FAIRVIEW Race Course was abuzz with activities at the weekend for the 2013 East Cape Derby.
One of the organisers of the event, Karin Le Roux, said it was a weekend of racing with a charitable aspect.
Nazareth House in Port Elizabeth was selected as the beneficiary for this year.
“It is traditionally run at Arlington but we had to move the venue,” she said.
The derby kicked off on Friday with eight races, including the prestigious Dahlia Plate.
Ten races were held, including the Recall East Cape Derby, yesterday.
“Apart from an impressive racing line-up, there were also food and craft stalls, live entertainment and a plethora of children’s activities.”
As yesterday coincided with Mother’s Day, there was a surprise gift for all the moms who attended.
