Comedian thrills with old-school charm and witty commentary

FUNNYMAN Ndumiso Lindi – one of the fastest-rising and brightest stars on the South African comedy circuit – is bringing his home-grown humour back to the Eastern Cape at The Venue@Hemingways in East London this week.

Lindi has been making big waves with his sharp wit and insightful observations of everyday life in South Africa – specifically from a young black guy’s perspective.

Lindi, who originates from Zwelitsha, has headlined all the important stand-up gigs around. Among them are Blacks Only, The Heavyweights Comedy Jam and Nando’s Comedy Festival. He debuted his first one-man show, Here I Stand at On Broadway Theatre in Cape Town in August 2011, and hasn’t looked back since.

Thrilled to be coming home to see his local fans, Lindi will be performing his latest one-man show Colour Mine, which has earned him rave reviews.

He is known for his trademark hat, funky urban stylish look and voice, but what has earned him his fame in the past few years is his alter ego, “Roosta” and his brazenly honest views on life.

“We are really excited to be hosting Ndumiso on our stage for the first time in May. This is one comic you shouldn’t miss,” casino marketing manager Neville Austin says.

“His laid-back, intelligent delivery combines old school charm with incisively funny commentary on current events. You’ll simply lap it up. He’s got something in his bag for everyone.”

Colour Mine show takes place at The Venue, Hemingways Casino Complex at 8pm on Friday May 3.
