MUSICIAN Nothende Madumo has gone from being a backing vocalist for Lira and RJ Benjamin to a star in her own right.
And tomorrow night she will remind Port Elizabeth music lovers just why they love her.
“I will give an energetic high performance even though I won’t have a band. I will surprise the audience with my extra talent that I have been hiding,” she said. “My fans can expect my old and new songs. They will definitely have a good time.”
The Mafikeng-born urban soul singer released her debut album, Love Light, in 2011. It was well received, and went on to put her on the map.
Her performance tomorrow will include some of the material from that album, and a few new songs.
In November last year, she released her second album, Rebirth.
“In this album I showcase everything I am about. It is a compilation of new and old songs from R&B, jazz and hip-hop. I have given the songs a new life and through the album people will get to know who Nothende is.”
Madumo has collaborated with Metro FM’s Lulo Cafe, Kabomo and Sliq. She was also an opening act for American star Kanye West when he was in South Africa.
