HAVING a Standard 2 (Grade 4) education has definitely been a setback for gospel singer Rebecca Malope.

That is why the musician is urging people to go back to school.

Malope, originally from Likazi in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga, said she lost out on many deals and also had many doors shut in her face because of her lack of education.

This, she said, had prompted her to establish a foundation which had as its main focus a back-to-school campaign aimed at high school and tertiary education dropouts. “I want to give them a better chance at life.”

Malope said she was determined to work hard to help these children while also knocking on the doors of sponsors.

“When I started in the music industry more than two decades ago, I could not read or write,” she said.
