ALGOA FM presenter Carol-Ann Kelleher said “yes” when her ex-husband proposed to her again on Friday.
The 51-year-old co-hosts the radio station’s breakfast show with Daron Mann.
Kelleher and Gary Tait were married for nearly seven years before they got divorced in 2004.
Tait proposed again to Kelleher while walking along Hobie Beach.
She said an unknown woman approached her with a bouquet of roses.
“All I knew is that we were going to take a walk, then go to a coffee shop. As I was standing there I was approached by the lady,” she said.
Tait then took her hand and scrawled in the sand, “I want to ask you something”.
“I knew immediately that he wanted to marry me. When I looked up our best friend was also there to experience the moment. It was beautiful and magical. He is a born romantic,” Kelleher said.
She said after the divorce they remained friends.
“We had our own differences. We also battled to have kids. But we always had a connection. We are just meant for one another,” she said.
After the divorce Tait moved overseas.
“I was always in contact with her. When I came back three years ago we went out for coffee but it was like we never parted ways.”
He said Kelleher was the woman meant for him.
“I definitely have to spend my life with her. The reason why I took so long to propose is because I was waiting for the right time. We are both ecstatic about the engagement.”
He said they hoped to tie the knot again early next year.
