VERSATILE house DJ Lady Lea is starting her birthday celebrations and a month-long tour by performing at Shhugar in Walmer on Sunday.
She will be joined by two other Divas on Decks, Sham da Funk and Luscious Lisa.
Lady Lea, 32, is also putting women DJs on the map with her Divas on Decks initiative to promote up-and-coming female DJs.
“My birthday is in April and we will be doing a month’s tour around the country. There will be three dance arenas.
“We have our own floor. The other two will be split up between 17 Port Elizabeth DJs,” Lady Lea said.
“Our fans can expect good quality music and good vibes. We will be giving away some freebies.”
Lady Lea said she enjoyed performing in Port Elizabeth as she loved the crowd.
“They understand my music and as a result I am able to experiment a bit with it.”
She will be performing songs from her latest album, Wham Bam Thank You Ma’am, which includes electro, funky and deep house sounds.
“The album will delight the old and new generation. The first disc features a deep funky house mix and the second CD is the tech-electro house mix. It is already in shops,” she said.
Sunday’s event starts at 6pm. The entry fee is R50 until midnight, and R60 thereafter.
