SOUTH African gospel ensemble Joyous Celebration are going back to their roots and have released a double CD with 32 tracks called Joyous Celebration Rewind.
Three Eastern Cape artists – Asanda Bam, Ncebakazi Nkatso and Unathi Mzekeli – are among the young singers featured in the album.
“Joyous Celebration Rewind is a new brand of DVD and CD releases consisting of a brand–new live show of newly arranged performances.
“They comprise a selection of classic songs from the Joyous Celebration catalogue. We have rerecorded our old songs using new singers and young singers,” Jabu Hlongwane, one of the Joyous Celebration founders, said.
“We remind fans of where Joyous Celebration began through a nostalgic and spiritual journey called Joyous Celebration Rewind.
“We want to take our fans down memory lane with the Joyous classic songs such as Beulah Land, Centre of my Joy, Izithembiso, Siliwelile and Phindukhulume. Also on the CD is Pastor Mthunzi Namba’s medley of old favourite songs such as Lord I Can Feel, Glory, The Blood of Jesus, UJesu wam and Kanye nawe.”
Hlongwane said Eastern Cape singers were included.
“The Eastern Cape is a very talented province, hence we have featured artists from there. In Joyous Celebration we try and develop new singers,” he said.
