AFRO-SOUL singer Siphokazi Mohapi has a bun in the oven and a career on the boil.
The lanky singer, who has been out of the limelight for two years, is five months pregnant with her first child, a source said.
Though the mother-to-be was not available to talk, Hlalele Mohapi, her husband and manager, confirmed that his wife of one year is pregnant.
“We are beyond excited and feel so favoured and blessed,” he said , but would not reveal when the baby was due .
Lady Luck might also be favouring Siphokazi’s career again after it seemed to be heading downhill since she left Native Rhythms two years ago.
In a major concert on her comeback trail, she will be performing at Carnival City in the One Night in Africa – Oliver Mtukudzi & Friends show tonight.
Mohapi said the concert was a big platform for Siphokazi’s career and would remind her fans of her talent.
“Because she has not been in the media for two years, her fans thought her career was over.
“But she has been busy with performances since the release of her third studio album, Ethembeni, last year in March.
“Fans can expect to hear new material from Siphokazi sometime next year,” he said.
Siphokazi burst on the music scene with her hit album, Ubuntu Bam, in 2006.
It scooped several awards at the South African Music Awards and best newcomer, best female vocalist and best produced album at the Metro FM Music Awards.
