THE NMMU music department will present a lunch-hour concert featuring various woodwind ensembles at its NMMU South Campus Auditorium in Port Elizabeth on Wednesday.
The NMMU Woodwind Ensembles will perform works by Bach, Loeillet, Monti and Schickhardt.
Some of the students who will be performing are Elanie Kok (recorder), a final year performers student and one of this year’s Bryars finalists, and Grant Snyman (clarinet) who took a third place in the Bryars competition this year.
The others include Timothy O’Reilly, Charlandi Blom, Megan Schram, Angela Freer, Phakamile Msizi, Jessica Chetty and Sizwekazi Grootboom.
Ensemble playing is part of the students’ curriculum and they are encouraged to play in as many ensembles as possible in different combinations of instruments.
These students often assist in providing background music at functions in and around Port Elizabeth.
Entrance to the concert is free.
