MATRIC dance season is in full swing and the Reach for a Dream Foundation has helped a pupil achieve his dream of attending his matric dance in style.
Thanks to the organisation, Anele Malobo, a Grade 12 pupil at Zwide’s Sakisizwe Senior Secondary School, was provided with a special wardrobe for himself and his date, NMMU student Ayanda Gundo.
Garden Court King’s Beach provided a hotel room to get ready in and Maritime Motors transport to get to the event at the Kelway Hotel.
“The day was so beautiful. It was an experience I will never forget. The clothes, the car and the hotel room that they provided for me and my date to get ready in were really wonderful,” Malobo said.
“For a while, I even forgot that I have cancer and even now I feel so much better healthwise,” Malobo said.
The Reach for a Dream Foundation fulfills the dreams of children living with life-threatening or life-altering illnesses.
To make even more dreams come true, The Herald and Reach for a Dream have teamed up to present this year’s Wear Your Matric Dream matric dress competition.
The competition is intended to draw in photographs of the region’s most stunning gowns.
It is held with a twofold aim: to showcase the sparkling variety of evening wear worn to matric farewells in The Herald circulation area and also to raise funds for Reach for a Dream.
Three winners will take home prizes worth more than R8000, and the 30 finalists will model their dress once more.
Prizes include weekends away in the Tsitsikama, beauty and skin care pampering, spa and meal vouchers, beautiful crystal jewellery and professional photo shoots.
All 30 finalists chosen will have their dresses featured in La Femme and will not only win a glittering range of prizes, but also the chance to model their dresses at the gala finale function to be held at Running Waters on November 16.
You may enter a dress in one of the following categories:
- Home made (by a non-professional);
