CHAPMAN High School Grade 12 pupil Amour van Niekerk of Bloemendal is the latest entrant for The Herald’s Wear Your Dream competition, in aid of the Reach for a Dream Foundation.
Van Niekerk is entering her dress in the category, Home Made, one of three categories which also include Designer Made: Hired and Bought.
Early bird entrant Van Niekerk is now in line to win prizes worth more than R8000, and she could also be one of 30 girls chosen to model their dress in a gala evening in November.
Prizes include weekends away in the Tsitsikama, beauty and skincare pampering, spa and meal vouchers, beautiful crystal jewellery and professional photo shoots.
Each entry must be accompanied by a minimum donation of R50 which will go to Reach for a Dream.
Entrants also stand a chance to have their dress featured in La Femme.
The competition organisers stress that Wear Your Dream is not a beauty pageant but is rather focussed on the dress, and judges are briefed to look for dress-specific qualities such as its design, cut, style and use of fabric and colour, not the appearance or modelling ability of the person wearing the dress.
See the entry form for further information on the categories as well as how and where to enter. The entry form is also available on Reach for a Dream’s Wear Your Dream competition Facebook page (search for: Wear-Your-Dream-matric-dress-competition). Entries close on October 10.
