THE Herald Spec-Savers Miss Port Elizabeth 2011 Nandipha Mnuna is heading for the sun and sandy beaches of Bali on Monday.
The 10-day trip is part of her prize for winning the coveted title.
“I am very excited about the trip. I really need a break,” Mnuna said.
It will be her first time out of the country.
She will be taking her biggest fan with her – her mother. “She has worked so hard. She needs it so much. I am taking her away for some ‘our time’.”
Mother and daughter will be enjoying a luxurious stay at a hotel in Bali, with activities planned for them. “There will be a team waiting for me at the airport,” Mnuna said.
She does not know what those activities will be. “I hope they teach me one of the local dances,” she said.
But it will not be all fun and games for Mnuna, a student at Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University. “I have assignments that have to be handed in and I miss 10 days of classes.”
Fortunately, she would be able to study while having cocktails on the beach, she said.
Besides the arranged activities and studying, Mnuna hopes to learn about the culture and have time to go shopping during her trip to the Indonesian island. “I want to look for something nice and not South African,” she said.
