MONEY can buy you a hat from exclusive British milliner Philip Treacy but it can’t buy you good taste, as reaction to the hat worn by Princess Beatrice, 22, to the royal wedding has shown.
Beatrice, daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, wore a beige Valentino couture ensemble to Westminster Abbey for the April 29 wedding of her cousin Prince William to Kate Middleton.
It was her hat which hogged the fashion headlines, though, as it not only defied gravity but also has its Facebook page.
By May 4, close to 150,000 Facebook members had posted comments on the hat likening it to: a pretzel, antlers, an IUD and more.
Poor Beatrice herself also was compared to: Hyacinth Bucket, a Teletubby, Lady Gaga, Cinderella’s ugly stepsisters – and worse.
Treacy, incidentally, designed 36 other hats for the royal wedding, including one for Beatrice’s sister Eugenie.
