Recipe: mango and strawberry slushie

A hot cuppa and iced tea are not the only use for teabags this summer, says Twinings of its newest offering.

In fact, the mango strawberry teabags have such a fresh, fruity flavour that the tea company recommends you try making a summer slushie, or iced drink.

If you want to know what it tastes like, think of the familiar sweetness of strawberries dancing with the exotic, rich aroma of mangoes to create a deliciously refreshing blend.

If you prefer your tea to be hot, then simply use one bag per person, pour on boiling water and infuse for three to four minutes. Leave for a little longer if you prefer a stronger taste.

Mango strawberry slushie Ingredients 500ml boiling water 2 mango strawberry teabags 2 mangoes, diced 250g strawberries, hulled and halved 3 tbsp honey or agave syrup (optional) Method Brew the tea in the boiling water for 5 minutes. Set aside to cool down before putting in the fridge to chill.

Place the diced mango in one freezer bag and the halved strawberries in another and freeze.

Once everything has chilled down, place the 250ml of tea and mangoes in a blender and top with a handful of ice. Blend together and pour into a jug.

In the same blender add the remaining tea, frozen strawberries, honey if using, and a handful of ice.

Start with the strawberry slush, and spoon into glasses. Top the strawberry slush with the mango slush.

Serve with straws and garnish with a piece of diced mango and half a strawberry.
