MasterChef South Africa winner Chris Forrest such a winning combo. It also makes for a fun Fringe comedy and a cookery demo with a difference.
The PG16 rating is due to the saucy content, with innuendos galore, as the beefy boys present what they call a “Spadework Meal” consisting of Foreplay, Intercourse and Afterglow.
However, if you hope that they will be doing a naked chef, remember the weather in Grahamstown is a tad chilly and “we didn’t want the title to be ‘Don’t Burn Your Chipolata’,” they chirp.
“This show is essentially for teaching men how to cook, how to use the main course to get ‘dessert’,” Goffe-Wood says. After all, the pair say, all a woman needs for romantic success is to “show up naked and bring beer”.
But Don’t Burn Your Sausage is not just steam and spice with words – you actually do get three gourmet recipes and a practical demo with useful tips. The aromas are truly delicious and about a dozen in the audience get to taste: how does a sauté of chicken livers, chorizo, butter beans, tomato, garlic, lemon and parsley sound?
It also is interesting for a kitchen amateur to see just how much oil, butter and seasoning they toss in, and Goffe-Wood in particular really knows how to do it without measuring. How can a tubby, bug-eyed, bald guy with a hole in his head be so sexy? It is because he has a twinkle in his eye . . . and he can cook.
