Your guide to a fun-filled Easter weekend

Easter weekend is a great way to kick-start the first school holiday of the year. After a long first term, most parents will welcome the well earned break from routine and word sums.

Nelson Mandela Bay residents will be treated to a wide range of activities that are guaranteed to keep you and your kids entertained over the entire weekend.

Here’s just some ideas and events to help you keep the family busy:

1.       The Splash Festival

Vodacom Splash Festival is a four-day festival that happens each April, and is highly suitable for the whole family. Take your kids down to Hobie Beach, Summerstrand and enjoy all the fun at this year’s Splash Festival.  Music, food stalls, games, rides and more. 03 April 2015 - 06 April 2015 

2. Kiddie Lovers at Garden Lovers Centre

The Kiddie Lovers Easter bunny has hidden his eggs all around the play area. Can you find them on Saturday (04/04) at 10am-12pm? 3. Sacramento Hiking Trail

If your young ones enjoy the outdoors and beautiful scenery, this is the perfect (free) Easter Weekend activity for you. Pack your picnic basket and enjoy the Sacramento Hiking Trail.  The Sacramento is a popular 8 km round trip coastal walk through the Schoenmakerskop-Sardinia Bay Nature Reserve and is accessed by travelling along Sardinia Bay Road.

4. Funky Frogs Indoor Play Centre

5. Londt Park Mini Train

Londt Park in Sunridge Park has a delightful miniature railway, complete with station, overhead pedestrian bridge and tunnel. The Londt Park Mini Train runs on the first Sunday of every month and will be running on Easter Sunday at 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. Located on the corner of May Way & Stella Londt Drive. 6. One Life Church - Easter Egg Hunt

One life Church will be hosting an Easter Egg hunt that is not to be missed at the park in Walmer Downs on Saturday 4 April. There will be lots of activities for the whole family: face painting, crafts and games.

7.  At home crafts

Not everything that is fun has to cost money or involve an outing. Visit for fun Easter Crafts that you can make with your kids in the comfort of your own home. Bunny butt cookies, colourful potato stamps, hatching peg eggs and much more.

   

8. Windsor Kids Play and Party Land 

Windsor Castle is an outdoor play area for children and is just off Circular Drive in Port Elizabeth. The innovative team at Windsor Forest Products have created a magical playground of wooden structures, including a medieval castle, a sunken ship and a hospital, to stimulate the imaginations of young ones. Entrance is R30 per person over the Easter Weekend as well as during school holidays. There is a tea garden on site where adults can enjoy delightful refreshments.

9. Grass Roof Farm Stall - Easter Egg Hunt

The Grass Roof Farm Stall will be hosting an Easter Egg hunt on Good Friday (03/04) at 4:30pm.  On Easter Sunday (05/04) you are also welcome to enjoy a delicious Grass Roof breakfast from 8am. Children between under six years of age can enjoy a fun and exciting Kidies Easter Egg Hunt and the seven to nine-year-olds can enjoy The Amazing Easter Egg Challenge which starts 9am! 10. For the older kids and adults - DStv iRock Ebhayi 04 April 2015

DStv’s highly successful iRock music festival will be at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium for the first time in this year April. Music fans in the friendly city can experience a full line up of South Africa’s finest talent at the DStv iRock eBhayi Music Festival.

11. The Easter Love Movement Experience –Uitenhage

The first Easter Love Movement Experience will entertain young and old with performances by top national artists with genres ranging from Hip hop and various dj`s. 12. Sand surfing at Maitlands river mouth

Maitland River Mouth is located at the foot of the famous Maitland dune “mountain”; sand-boarding is a favourite pastime while kilometres of sandy beach can be explored at leisure. Take your cardboard box and slide down the dunes this Easter Weekend with family and friends.

13. The Pink Fig Breakfast Special
