PE in grip of party fever

IF you are in a party mood this weekend, join the party animals at The Reunion party at the McArthur pools in Humewood tomorrow.

The event, in its third year, celebrates the life of all partygoers who have frequented Brookes Pavilion at some point.

Entertaining the thousands of people expected to attend will be Just Jinjer and Prime Circle with The Lucas Reunion's The Sunday Specialists as the supporting act. Other performers will include:

  • DJ Earl Swarts – The Dropper of Bombs
  • Dayne Lee Beunderman – Seriously Bro
  • Jateen Bhana Jay -B – Heisenberg
  • Renaldo Gouws – I'm Not a F*****g Jukebox
  • Jason Djjay Aitken – DoesThis Bass Sound Right?
  • Richard Saunders – Check Out This Tune

One of the event organisers, Renaldo Gouws, said they expected more than 1500 people at this year's party.

"We wanted to do something different. Our aim is to give people the PE feel,'' Gouws said.

"Through this event we also want to recreate the deck parties that used to take place at the Brookes Pavilion.

"It's time for the old school and new school PE party animals to meet up for a party to remind them where we come from and where we are heading.

"It's been a long time coming and it has been decided that the Bay needs to show some love for its fallen hero, Brookes Pavilion."

Gouw went on to say there would be lifeguards and 12 security guards on duty. The doors will open at 5.30pm and tickets cost R100 at Computicket or R120 at the door.

The McArthur Pool and Leisure Centre offers heated and cold, fresh water outdoor swimming pools with slides at kiddies pools.

It is also disabled-friendly. There is a kiosk and pool bar on site, with access to two restaurants, and a surf shop. - Yoliswa Sobuwa
