The wrong Generation for viewers of today?

TOUTED as dynamic and featuring a team of experienced and talented actors, the newly scripted Generations: The Legacy made its keenly awaited debut on SABC1 last night.

The popular drama made its return to its 8pm slot with many new faces and some familiar ones, such as those of Connie Ferguson and Rapulana Seiphemo.

They have returned to the soapie after their characters, Karabo Moroka and Tau Mogale, eloped to London in a previous episode.

The reaction to the revamped soapie was mixed, with several people sharing the sentiments of @marvinator–za, who tweeted: "This Generations: Legacy got off on the wrong foot, too boring."

@meelaneb said: "Am luving da new cast ... so gud to have Connie Ferguson back."

The feel of the show was slightly old school and this did not go unnoticed in the Twittersphere.

@Khutso–981206 said: "It is boring ... looks as if it was shot in the 80s."

@thamieVilakazi was more forgiving, commenting: "It will take some time to get used to the new soapie."

The drama will have a few twists and turns. Viewers will see Karabo completely blindsided by the love of her life, Tau. It seems that he has his own agenda and is intent on creating a legacy independent of hers.

Executive producer Mfundi Vundla said: "Generations: The Legacy is about stimulating a conversation on the transfer of wealth, knowledge and culture.

"Successive generations in African society have produced men and women of great intelligence, vision and the drive for excellence." - Bernice Maune
