Silver screen debut for Peugeot 308

THE new Peugeot 308 will appear in Lucy, the latest film by Luc Besson, which is expected to be released in South Africa at the end of this month.

Starring in its first movie role, the 2014 Car of the Year appears alongside leading actors Scarlett Johansson and Morgan Freeman.

The film tells the story of a young student who, as a result of circumstances beyond her control, finds her mental capabilities growing.

She then "colonises" her brain and acquires unlimited powers.

Following Besson's most well-known film, Taxi (1998), and 3 Days to Kill  released earlier this year, Lucy  is the third feature-length film in which the famous director has honoured a Peugeot with a part.

Generating more than 138000 orders since its launch last year, the Peugeot 308 fitted straight into this science fiction film, Peugeot South Africa's general manager for public relations, Toni Herbst, said.

"The protagonist, Lucy, takes the wheel of a Peugeot 308 during a breathtaking high-speed chase through the streets of Paris," he said.

"The car shows off its efficiency, dynamic performance and road-holding by racing down the capital's famous Rue de Rivoli."

Lucy opened in France this week and will be screened in 50 other countries. It will open in South Africa on August 29.
